A UK visa sponsorship job is a role offered by an employer that holds a valid Home Office sponsor licence. Only licensed sponsors can issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS), the document you need to apply for a Skilled Worker visa or Health and Care Worker visa from overseas.

In 2025 there are more than 100,000 licensed UK sponsors across every major sector, from NHS trusts and global tech firms to independent care homes, engineering consultancies, and hospitality groups.

To qualify for a Skilled Worker visa you need to meet all of the following:

• A confirmed job offer from a licensed UK sponsor with a valid CoS.
• A role at or above RQF Level 3 (equivalent to A-level or higher skill).
• A salary of at least £38,700 per year or the going rate for the occupation — whichever is higher. Reduced thresholds apply to new entrants, PhD-relevant roles, and Health and Care Worker occupations.
• English language ability at CEFR level B1 (IELTS 4.0 in each component, or an equivalent accepted test / degree taught in English).
• Sufficient personal savings (usually £1,270) unless your sponsor certifies maintenance.

A Skilled Worker visa can be granted for up to 5 years and leads to Indefinite Leave to Remain. Dependants (spouse and children under 18) can be included and are permitted to work and study.

1. Search the official register. The Home Office publishes the Register of Licensed Sponsors: Workers as a daily CSV on GOV.UK. Filter by Worker route and your target city or sector.
2. Filter job boards by "visa sponsorship". LinkedIn, Indeed, and NHS Jobs allow keyword filters. Search phrases like "visa sponsorship", "Certificate of Sponsorship", or "Skilled Worker visa".
3. Target sponsor-heavy employers directly. NHS trusts, Big 4 firms, top tech companies, and major construction contractors sponsor at scale — apply through their careers sites.
4. Use a recruiter who works with sponsors. Specialist agencies (like Gobblex) pre-qualify candidates against sponsoring employers, saving weeks of speculative applications.

1. Confirm eligibility. Check your qualification level, English proficiency, and target salary against the going rate for your occupation code (SOC 2020).
2. Prepare a UK-format CV. Two pages, no photo, achievements quantified, dates in month/year format, right-to-work status clearly stated.
3. Sit an English test if required. IELTS, PTE, or OET — book early to keep your timeline moving.
