Frequently asked questions
Do UK construction companies sponsor overseas engineers?
Yes. Civil, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering roles, plus construction and project management, are all eligible occupations on the Skilled Worker route where the employer holds a sponsor licence.
Do I need UK chartership (ICE, IMechE) to be sponsored?
No. Chartership is not a visa requirement, though it strengthens your application and supports a higher salary band.
Can site-based trades get visa sponsorship?
Only where the role sits at RQF Level 3 or above and meets the going rate. Supervisory, technical and managerial site roles are the most commonly sponsored.
